Our server recommended a traditional Austrian Tafelspitz, which she played beautifully tableside. The food was amazing, and the surroundings enchanting.

It’s an expensive restaurant with a lot of history & I think that’s what your paying for, I had the pasta dish with truffles and it was okay, nothing special, we had the nockerl for desert, which was very good, if in Salzburg would I dine there again, probably not

Im großen und ganzen war es ein netter Abend. Wie in etwas gehobener Gastronomie üblich waren die Portionen. In Kombination mit einer Vorspeise oder einem Dessert aber vollkommen ausreichend. Geschmacklich waren die Speisen gut aber eben nichts besonderes. Da habe ich schon besseres für weniger Geld gehabt. Was mir aber überhaupt nicht gefällt, ist jeglicher Zwang und ab 17 Uhr wird immer Brot mit Butter für 6Euro pro Person serviert ob ich es will oder nicht. Finde ich nicht zeitgemäß vorallem eine Karamellbutter ist eben auch nicht jedermanns Geschmack. Wiederholungsrate bei maximal 30 Prozent.

Tolle Erfahrung und wirklich Mega Essen. Der Tafelspitz war gigantisch und besonders in dem Ambiente.
Our server and we had a lovely conversation at the top of the meal. As the dining room filled up, our server was obviously very busy, but unfortunately he did charge the wrong glass of wine on our check, and it took a while for him to deliver the corrected check. We tipped 14 Euros on 168 Euro check (we're American and thought 5 - 10% for service in Austria is standard), and he seemed disappointed/upset.
Loved that we got a reservation here while we were staying in Salzburg for a romantic weekend. St. Peter provided the perfect ambience we were looking for. Pumpkin Gnocchi was delicious, creamy, but not too heavy. My husband enjoyed the roast beef with carmelized onions, bacon wrapped green beans and melt-in-your-mouth mashed potatoes. I’m glad he shared a couple bites with me! I’d come back here and try something different and sit in one of their other rooms.
We were deeply disappointed by our experience when dining at your restaurant on the evening of September 28th. The issue was not only where we were seated, but more importantly the way the hostess handled the situation — in a manner that came across as dishonest, unprofessional, and dismissive. We arrived right on time for our reservation and immediately noticed the beautiful courtyard. We also overheard the hostess telling a couple with no reservation that they were “lucky someone canceled” before seating them outside. Confident that our confirmed reservation would ensure the same, we were surprised when she instead led us indoors to a far less desirable space. When I asked about sitting outside, I was told it was not possible without an “outdoor reservation” — an option that does not exist when booking online. Later, the hostess returned to our table. For a brief moment, I thought she might acknowledge the mistake or offer a solution. Instead, she chose to put the blame on us, falsely claiming we had arrived “early” for an 8:30 reservation. Our reservation was at 8:00. When pressed, she mistakenly showed us another party’s booking, fumbled with her tablet, and finally claimed her system had been malfunctioning all day and her tech team was unavailable. This was the most unacceptable part: she didn’t return to apologize or resolve anything. She came back only to deflect responsibility, contradict herself, and walk away — leaving us with even less trust in how we had been treated. The emotional rollercoaster of briefly thinking the situation might be corrected, only to be met with excuses and blame, was more frustrating than being denied outdoor seating in the first place. From there, the night was irreparably soured. The food was mediocre at best and overpriced for what was delivered, leaving nothing redeeming about the evening. For a restaurant that prides itself on being the oldest in Europe, this fell shockingly short of the level of hospitality one should expect.
The ambiance of this restaurant is incredible. We had a reservation of 5 and we were sat right away. 4 of us chose to do the chefs 5 course special dinner, the food and service was excellent.
Great experience to do in Salzburg in the oldest restaurant in Europe. And great price point for a high end restaurant. Service and food was excellent!
Sehr bemühter und freundlicher Kellner, gute Weinempfehlung. Ausgezeichnete Küche, allerdings Portionen für den Preis teilweise zu klein ausgefallen. Störend waren nur Laute Gäsre am Nebentisch, die die Lautstärke ihrer Gespräche nicht an das Ambiente anpassen könnten/wollten.

Loved the karma drink, bread and butter and salads. Venison was a game changer - risotto Shrimp unimpressed and no flavor. Service weakened as it got busy and did not appreciate being 5 inches from another table.
Viel Lärm um nichts. Wir werden nicht wieder hingehen. Preise völlig überzogen, Service wenig freundlich und es gibt keine Getränkekarten, so dass man nicht weiß, dass man für die 0,5l Flasche Mineralwasser am Ende 8,20€ zahlt.

The staff provided us with a quiet table as requested to make my birthday dinner special. The salted caramel butter and the bread were tasty as were the appetizer and salad we ordered. Milk-fed veal with herb polenta and a mushroom sauce were beyond expectation as was the duck breast. Nockerl finished off the evening with a flourish. Service was at an appropriate level to cater to our needs without being pesky. It felt unreal to be in a 1,222 year old restaurant. If only the walls could speak! If only we could visit again someday.
The waiter gave us bread but didn't explain to us that it would cost 6 Euro per person. Given that bread is offered widely in Europe for free that was quite a surprise to see an additional 12 Euros added to our bill. I would have preferred to be informed at the time to make a decision.

One of the nicest restaurants I’ve eaten in in a long time. We got 2 typical Austrian specialties and we were not blown away. My wife had the weinersnitzel and I had the boiled steak and there just wasn’t anything remarkable about either one. We started with the small salad which was fantastic as was the apple strudel with vanilla ice cream at the end and the service was also very good. We didn’t have anything to drink and with tip was 155 euros for 2. I’m going to Vienna next and hopefully something there will blow us away.
